Biography
Jim Parke is the Managing Director of Parke Lawyers and has practised law for more than 30 years. He advises individuals, families, executors, trustees and business owners across a broad range of commercial, estate and dispute-related matters, with particular expertise in commercial law, succession planning, estate litigation, employment law and corporate governance.
Accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a Specialist in Commercial Law, Jim is recognised by Doyle's Guide as a Leading Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyer and a Leading Wills, Estates & Succession Planning Lawyer. His practice combines legal, accounting and governance expertise, enabling him to provide strategic advice on complex matters involving businesses, trusts, estates and family wealth structures.
In addition to his legal qualifications, Jim is both a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Practising Accountant. He holds postgraduate qualifications from the Queensland University of Technology, Bond University and the University of Oxford, where he completed a Master of Science in Major Programme Management and became a Life Member of the Oxford Union.
Beyond private practice, Jim has a long history of public and community service. He has served as Mayor of Boroondara, a Councillor in both Victoria and Queensland, a community member of the Adult Parole Board of Victoria, and was the first Australian elected President of Crime Stoppers International. He has also held senior leadership positions with Crime Stoppers Australia, Crime Stoppers Queensland, Volunteering Australia and other not-for-profit and professional organisations.
