We understand that legal costs are an important consideration and are committed to charging fees that are fair, transparent, competitive, and satisfactory to our clients.

We welcome questions about fees at any stage and will always explain how our charges apply to your matter. The way fees are calculated depends on the type and complexity of the work we undertake for you.

Fixed Fees

For certain matters, we may be able to provide a fixed fee quote before commencing work. This option gives clients certainty about cost and is common in:

Property transactions
Wills and estate planning
Some corporate and commercial transactions

Fee for time

For more complex matters, our services are often charged on a time-based basis. You will be billed for the actual time your lawyer spends working on your file. Before we begin, we will:

Confirm the hourly rate that applies
Provide an estimate of the likely total cost, based on the work involved

We will keep you informed of progress and advise if costs are likely to differ from the initial estimate.

Annual Retainer for Businesses

Some of our small and medium-sized business clients prefer the certainty of a retainer arrangement. This involves a fixed monthly invoice covering an agreed scope of services, helping businesses budget with confidence while having ready access to ongoing legal advice.

Disbursements

In addition to our professional fees, you may also be required to pay disbursements — out-of-pocket expenses we incur on your behalf. These may include:

Court filing fees
Title search fees
Bailiff’s fees
Courier charges
Probate and registry fees

We only charge you the actual amount paid to third parties — we do not apply any mark-ups. In addition, reasonable charges may apply for items such as postage, photocopying, and printing. These costs will always be fair, transparent, and reviewed with you.
